Season of Sauvignon kick-started summer

26. Oct. 2011

For the 7th year in a row, the Durbanville Wine Valley hosted the white wine festival- Season of sauvignon on the 1st weekend of October.

This year’s festival was fantastic, and even though the weather played up a little, it did not keep people at home.  All the activities that needed to be pre-booked for sold out weeks before the festival, including the popular Wine Ferry operated by Base 4.

Highlights of the weekend included the wild-and-wonderful Sauvignon Saloon, a Pink Paisley party, a ten-course West Coast Feast along with traditional favourites such as  French-styled ‘le picniques’, live music performances, magic acts and wine-tastings.
Festival goers got the chance to visit Nitida, Altydgedacht, Bloemendal,  D’Aria, De Grendel, De Vallei, Diemersdal, Durbanville Hills, Groot Phesantekraal, Klein Roosboom, Hillcrest and Meerendal.

The Durbanville Wine Valley hosts three annual events, namely ‘Feast of the Grape’ in March, ‘Soup, Sip and Bread’ in July and ‘Season of Sauvignon’ early October.
